Bengal is different. In other states, the politicians take lists of voters with promise to reward those who vote for them. In Bengal lists are prepared for punishing those who did not vote for Trinamool Congress.

Mamata Bannerji, whom many call Mamata Bano, does not in her rallies talk to her voters, but to her prajaa. She tells them that central armed forces are coming to kill them, but she won't let that happen. It is like a king --- or queen --- giving assurance to her people.

Bengal under Mamata must be the toughest state that the Union has had to maintain as a part of the federation. She looks upon federal institutions as enemy forces. Her "forces" dare the judiciary and take them prisoners in Malda. She leads a contingent consisting of the head of her force and others to snatch crucial documents from the hands of the Enforcement Directorate officials.

Those who occupied India a millennium ago came by crossing certain passes in the Himalayas. Those who are now trying to take over India are coming mostly from the marshes that separate India and Bangladesh. These days thousands of men and women are buying tickets for Bengal. These would appear to be Mamata's faithful Bangladeshi infiltrators who live in different parts of India and work as household help or as cheap labour. They take names that would sound both Hindu and Muslim. A servant-maid in a house in Tamil Nadu might be Parveen. This name could serve her in both communities.

The result of the forthcoming elections will determine whether Bengal will, some day in future, have to be re-annexed to India by a military campaign. One more term for Madam Mamata and the Hindus in Bengal will feel absolutely enslaved.

Mamata is angry about SIR. "How dare you question those whom I myself have given Indian citizenship?" seems to be her rant. She is also angry about the Election Commission declaring that the central forces will remain in Bengal for six months after the election. This takes away a mother's right to punish her disobedient children. Symbolically, it amounts to an outsider giving courage to children to take their own decisions in defiance of their mother. Which mother would tolerate this?

When I see some hollywood movies about Napoleon, I get a feeling that the visuals of Napoleon walking around while addressing his soldiers were modelled on Mamata Amma. She doesn't roar like a lioness, she sings a lullaby to put her children to sleep.. Let us see if Amit Shah ji would be able to wake up the people of Bengal.

Kashmir was an easy problem to solve. Hindus were being killed and their blood cried for a solution. In Bengal, blood-shed is occasional. The change is taking place by the slow and silent emasculation of Hindus. If BJP comes to power, this process may get halted. That is why this election becomes so crucial for the future identity of Bengal.
